This school has the international atmosphere where all the cultures mix in without any problems. I was friends with a Japanese girl, Turkish girl and Tai girl. We had about 20 nationalities in a group of 30 people. I was in the E.a.B system for my whole academic life until I got into university. I was in E.a.B Lamartine before to learn French and then moved to the E.i.B Victor Hugo School of Paris. I was actually a 2013 graduate of the last E.a.B class when the school changed its name to E.i.B. They have the choice between IB and the high school diploma and the teachers are trained for them. The students are prepared for those programs using the IGCSEs as a placing test in order to see who needs more help on which subjects. The school usually does not have more than 40 people per class year; hence, the one-to-one teacher and student relationship is very helpful and important to go through the IB program. The school might be small but they have several floors and two labs. But there is a park, several bakeries, a supermarket and a pizzeria next to the school. The metro station is only 10 minutes away and there is a bus that takes only two minutes. Also, the school bus is also an option to consider.
After being to a total of eight schools in my entire life span, both international and public, both expensive and costless, I can honestly say that EIB The Victor Hugo school is the worst educational establishment I have ever come across. In fact, it isn't an educational establishment at all. It is a business, where decisions are based purely on financial profitability. Unacceptable actions, decisions and behaviour such as hiring teachers with little or no qualification, teachers with absolutely zero experience on the basis of their cost to the business are a regular practice at EIB The Victor Hugo school. Other examples of indecent behaviour include dismissing responsibility when weapons are brought inside the school by students to avoid reputation damage, inefficiency to deliver basic services and incapability of listening and having adult discussions with individuals who bring up serious complaints. The organisation of the school is comparable to that of my three years old brother' toy area. Most of the staff, mainly supervisors and "educational assistants" serve little to no purpose in the school and often use inappropriate verbal and physical language. The academic value of the school is worst than any public school I have ever been in. Last ear I was asked to change my IB subjects just because the school didn't have the mathematical skills, or maybe just wasn't bothered to come up with a different timetable. Change happens at an incredibly slow speed and is only possible when it doesn't involve any kind of financial investment. During my four year stay the significant changes have been targeted towards the image of the school rather than the actual quality. These changes were: a change in name, logo and uniform. This is exactly the kind of superficial, useless attitude that EIB has towards the learning process. The good teachers that happen to get a job there are scarce and find themselves blocked by the lack of organisation and skills present in the establishment. I could on with an infinite list of situations that anyone would want to avoid when going to school. I hope no one has the misfortune of falling into the marketing and price trap that EIB so skilfully designed. To sum it up, one star is enormously generous for the EIB review.
